Balsamic Peach Canapes Recipe

Whenever summer comes around we get so excited for one of our favorite activities. Backyard dinner parties!

We really love dining alfresco, it's one of the best things about summer (not to mention the easiest way to entertain). So we’re hosting a summer soiree as a start to the season. So you know we’ll want to enjoy the best foods summer has to offer too!

We’re keeping it simple with pizza on the barbecue, a couple of fresh salad options, wine, sangria, and maybe a margarita or two. On a trip to the market we found they have some beautiful peaches available so we decided to make one of our all time favorite appetizers; a balsamic peach canapé. It's an incredibly easy appetizer that fits right in with our summer menu. The most difficult part about this recipe is avoiding the temptation to eat all of the peach slices dipped in MiaBella Traditional Balsamic Vinegar while you're waiting on the bread to toast. Which is why we always buy extra peaches.

You can easily whip this up right before guests arrive in no time. And if you for some reason want to avoid eating your weight in peaches you can even buy pre-made crostini at most grocery stores and skip that step all together. But, that would really cut into your peach eating time…

Overall, these super simple balsamic peach canapés are great for parties. It's simply bread, prosciutto, brie, fresh peaches, and MiaBella balsamic how could you go wrong? Those are all checkmarks for a crowd pleasing menu item. The balance of our MiaBella balsamic plays beautifully with the tart peaches and salty prosciutto. Plus we love how the peaches add a pop of color to our dinner table amongst all of the greens and glasses of chardonnay.

Sometimes we’ll even throw a couple bowls of whole peaches out on the table to add a little more color and texture. And towards the end of the night after a couple of bottles of wine have been opened those “decorative” peaches usually get eaten as well. These guys are usually gone in a flash, you can make a few batches of them in advance minus the MiaBella balsamic, and store inside.

The farther in advance you're making these the longer you should toast your bread so it’ll hold without getting too soft from the brie. Then when your guests are ready for more, simply freshen up the canapés with a drizzle of MiaBella balsamic and serve!

Ingredients

    1/2 of a Baguette
    1 tablespoon olive oil
2 ripe but still firm Peaches sliced
    6 slices of prosciutto
1 wedge of Brie cheese (approx. 8-10 oz.)

Recipe Instructions

Preheat oven to 350°. Slice baguette at an angle into 12 1/2 inch thick pieces. Align the baguette slices on a baking sheet in a single layer, drizzle with olive oil and bake for 8-10 minutes or until lightly toasted. Remove from oven and allow to cool.
Cut the prosciutto pieces in half. Cut the Brie into slices appropriately sized for your baguette slices. Slice the peaches into 6ths.
Add a slice of Brie to each baguette piece. Then top with 1 prosciutto half, and 2 slices of peach each. Drizzle the canapés with MiaBella Traditional Balsamic Vinegar to complete your perfect end of summer appetizer!
